This little piggy went in my belly.
Get your stretchy pants ready, 'cause it's time for the third annual festival of gluttony, otherwise known as Go Pig! Or Go Home! For the past two years, Kata Robata has been inviting local chefs to roast whole pigs in the parking lot in front of the restaurant, and the event has continually brought out some of Houston's finest to throw down before a delighted crowd.

If you've never seen a whole pig roast, watching the action from beginning to end can be quite a treat. It can be a little unnerving because even roasted the pigs are, well, kinda cute, but one taste of that sweet meat and you'll be craving more.

This year's event takes place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 4 (cue Star Wars jokes), and there are still some tickets left, so scoop them up soon.

Each $95 ticket gets guests unlimited sampling of all the pork dishes from the participating chefs as well as small bites provided by Kata Robata. There will also be free drinks provided by 8th Wonder Brewery, Duchman Family Winery and Byejoe spirits.

Last year's event saw plenty of creative pork preparations, from sculptures made out of crispy pig skins at the Uchi table to pretzel bread pork piglets stuffed with pulled pork by Max's Wine Dive. There was bratwurst from Underbelly, pâté en croûte from Cloud 10 Creamery and cochinita pibil from La Fisheria. It was a veritable smorgasbord of multicultural pork creations, and this year promises to be even better.

Ronnie Killen of Killen's Steakhouse and Killen's BBQ will we returning this year to defend his title of 2013 Grand Champion, and Gabriel Medina of Soma will be back to defend his people's choice title. The champ from 2012, Ryan Pera of Coltivare and Revival Market, will also be there, along with Manabu Horiuchi of Kata Robata, Kaz Edwards of Uchi, Randy Evans of Haven, Ryan Hildebrand of Triniti, John Sheely of Osteria Mazzantini, Michael Pellegrino of Max's Wine Dive, Matt Marcus of Eatsie Boys, Jean-Philippe Gaston of Cove, Mike Potowski of Benjy's on Washington, Kevin Bryant of Eleven XI, Eric Laird of Liberty Kitchen and Oyster Bar, Travis Lenig of Liberty Kitchen and Oysterette, Roberto Castre of Latin Bites and roving chef Randy Rucker.

If all this talk of pigs has you drooling in anticipation, check out the event's Facebook page with photos from last year and updates on the chefs participating in the competition. There are even some ticket giveaways.

This event sells out, so be sure and get your tickets soon.
