Ben & Jerry's New Core Sundae Flavors Have Finally Reached Houston
A few days later I returned to find stock of a more promising nature. I picked up one pint of Peanut Butter Fudge and one pint of Salted Caramel. It was a difficult decision, mind you, as the Hazed and Confused (hazelnut and chocolate ice creams with fudge chunks and a hazelnut fudge core) and the That's My Jam (raspberry and chocolate ice creams with fudge chunks and a raspberry jam core) looked delicious. But I couldn't justify spending $12 on ice cream that day (gotta save money for gum).
Chocolate ice cream and peanut butter ice cream sandwiching a column of peanut butter fudge? Yes, the Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge core sundae was as good as you might expect. Oh, and I forgot about the miniature peanut butter cups. Yes, it's peanut butter cups swimming in a larger replica of a peanut butter cup. While eating this flavor, I sort of wanted a glass of milk, but I figured a girl can take only so much sugar and dairy in one sitting.
The Salted Caramel was a bit disappointing, if only because the sweet definitely overpowered the salty. Points to B&J, though, for not skimping on the dense buttery caramel core and for liberally speckling the sweet cream ice cream with moist blond brownie chunks. If you, like me, long for more sodium in this sundae flavor, a quick, easy remedy is the addition of some crushed pretzels.
I need to give my arteries a chance to clear, but when I'm feeling less clogged I am definitely going to try the Hazed and Confused, which received a confusing, albeit ultimately very positive, review from Jack at The Impulsive Buy.
