Let Central Market's cooking school staff help you choose which wine(s) to have for your Valentine's Day feast. Sign up for Wine Workshop: Wines for Valentine's Day, which will take place on Monday, February 10, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The Central Market experts will be on hand to discuss the wines and offer tips on tasting vino. For $10, each person will sample six wines: La Romantica Brachetto, Lafond Syrah, Pianello Pink, Baron Fuente Brute, Santa Barba Chardonnay and Lucian Cab Franc.

Come celebrate Hay Merchant's 2nd Anniversary on Thursday, February 13, at 7 p.m. Hay Merchant is known for its incredible craft beer offerings as well as its lip-smacking bar food, such as Blood Sausage Queso Fundido, House Made Wagyu Beef Jerky and Blackbird's Cajun Meat Pies. In celebration of Hay Merchant's 2nd Anniversary, guests will have the chance to celebrate the restaurant and bar's success by enjoying rare beers on tap.The night will feature 30 vintage beers on tap, including 2013 Southern Tier Backburner, 2009 Brooklyn Black Chocolate and the last keg ever of Karbach Buffalo Trace Hellfighter.
Fans of sushi won't want to miss "Foodies Show Heart," a charity sushi-rolling competition that will take place on Thursday, February 13, from 7 to 9 p.m., hosted by RA Sushi. Six food writers and bloggers will partner and collaborate with an RA Sushi chef to create a signature sushi roll. Competitors include Greg Morago, food editor at the Houston Chronicle, and Carla Valencia, managing editor of 002 Magazine. As these six teams present their special sushi rolls, guests at the event will sample each and choose their favorite. RA Sushi will then add the winning sushi roll to its menu for 30 days and a portion of the proceeds of its sales will go to the winner's charity of choice.
