The final weekly newsletter was delivered on Wednesday, February 12.
This morning it was working and bringing Houstonians news of restaurant openings and closings, and this afternoon it is no more.

When we tried to access B4-U-Eat.com today, we found the following message from the administrators:

When you go to the website, this is all that you see.

We've contacted the administrator of the site, but have yet to receive a reply. We'll update the story when we get more information about the sudden "closure" of B4-U-Eat.com.

And we'll miss all the breaking opening and closing news, as well as the helpful event listings the site has provided for the past 23 years.

RIP B4-U-Eat. We lost you too soon.

The site was good if for no other reason than it let you know what restaraunts were located near you in the different parts of town.  I didn't trust the reviews too much, but it was still a good reference.

I am glad they are gone. After I found out they don't let you review a restaurant if they were being sponsored by them. Then wouldn't respond when you wanted to know why. I didn't trust any review on there.

No more heavily censored reviews for the restaurants who paid to advertise with them.. They really lost a lot of integrity by not posting reviews, and heavily censoring.

I certainly will miss B4-U-Eat. Like many on twitter, I had used it just this past weekend to find a restaurant. I sure hope the database finds a good home... surely it will?

Harry and Jane, the founders, are great folks and did this site to a large degree because of their passion for eating out and the restaurant people out there. It's amazing to see what two people can accomplish, long before the dragoons of Yelp came onto the scene.

Bon voyage, farewell....

Found B4 to be much more useful than yelp.  Sorry to see it go.

It had a positively ancient web design, but was the best source in town to track restaurant closings.

They stopped posting consumer reviews of restaurants about 2 months ago. They were a great source of finding restaurants by category, zip and area of town.

I am sure if they updated the website they would be able to make plenty of money selling ad space on it. It was a great way to find out about new restaurants coming, opened or new locations. Quite a loss.

@gossamersixteen That about sums up why I stopped using them shortly after I first discovered them so many years ago. Nevertheless, there would still be a moment every now and then when I would stop by there but it's been quite a while and I wouldn't have noticed they were gone anytime soon but for this story.
