Upcoming Events: Enjoy the Holiday Smorgasbord, Then Start Dieting
On the Monday before Christmas (December 23), Saint Arnold and the Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow bring you a special airing of Bad Santa. Head to the Saint Arnold Brewery for beers on tap at 6 p.m.; the movie screens at 7 p.m. A $15 admission ticket will get you the film and two pints. Saint Arnold will also be selling food and brews. Don't forget to bring a chair so you have somewhere to sit. This is event is for revelers 21 and older.

Keep the Christmas spirit alive during the Wave Holiday Lights Tour on Thursday, December 26, from 6 until 10 p.m. While the beautiful light displays around the Houston area, including the River Oaks Shopping Center, Discovery Green and, of course, the Christmas tree at City Hall are highlights of the this event, food is still a crucial component. The tour begins at Niko Niko's Market Square, where food and drink specials will be offered before and after the tour. For $30, you will get to ride the tour bus, enjoy specials from Niko Niko's and munch on holiday treats and sweets while gazing at beautiful Christmas lights and decorations. You are also welcome to bring food and drink to enjoy during the tour; however, nothing in glass is permitted.
Don't stay cooped up in the house all day on New Year's Eve; instead, reserve your spot at the River Oaks Sur la Table's "New Year's Eve Tapas Party" cooking class on December 31 at either 2:30 or 6:30 p.m. Each class lasts for two or two-and-a-half hours and will focus on small plates perfect for entertaining friends and family. The instructor will teach students how to make seared shrimp with tomato and saffron, Catalan flatbread with piquillo peppers, spicy mussels with chorizo, and serrano ham and manchego croquettas with pimentón aioli. Tickets cost $69.
While there are a multitude of places to eat on New Year's Eve, MKT Bar is hosting a foodie bash you won't want to miss. The Soul Celebration New Year's Eve Bash kicks off at 9 p.m. and lasts until 2 a.m. MKT Bar will serve special small plates and bites to munch on all evening while you get your boogie on during the dance contest at 11 p.m. -- whoever can break it down the best will walk away with a $500 gift card to use at Phoenicia. Of course, there will be a Champagne toast at midnight. Purchase a ticket in advance for $30 (small bites and Champagne toast included), or at the door for $40. Drinks are a separate purchase, and guests must be 18 years or older.

These spicy options will definitely make your taste buds and stomach happy.
