Upcoming Events: Anniversary Dinner at Etoile, Pop-Up Bakery From Triniti, and Oysters
On Monday, October 28, The Oceanaire hosts Merroir et Terroir, a six-course wine and oyster dinner. Kevin Joseph of Blue Island Oyster Farm, Jennifer Lumley of Terlato Wines International, and Oceanaire's executive chef, Abraham King, have collaborated on the evening's menu to allow diners to discover novel wine and oyster pairings. The night begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes eight wines with 12 oysters, with offerings such as hurricane island oysters on the halfshell with pomegranate and blood orange, paired with Chateau de Sancerre Blanc, and grilled naked cowboy oysters with roasted garlic butter and sweet peppers, paired with Sokol Blosser Pinot Gris. While guests enjoy oysters, wine and seafood, Joseph and Lumley will explain the logic behind each pairing, as well as the geography and history of the products. The evening will cost $65.

Beginning on Friday, November 1, Chef Philippe Verpiand will offer a special four-course menu in honor of Etoile Cuisine et Bar's one year-anniversary. The menu will be available through Saturday, November 9, and will cost $68. The meal begins with a complimentary glass of Etoile Rosé, followed by your choice of seared duck liver with apple and red bell pepper chutney, or tuna tartare with grapefruit and cucumber. Enjoy Chilean sea bass with short-rib ravioli, leek fondue and a carbernet reduction for the second course, followed by roasted duck breast with huckleberry gastrique, butternut squash and mushrooms for the third course. Conclude the evening with a choice of hazelnut praline with milk chocolate mousse or apple tart with vanilla ice cream and fleur de sel caramel.
The day after Halloween, Friday, November 1, Saint Arnold Brewing Company will hold a Dia de los Muertos Party, which begins at 6 p.m. The brewery will be serving a special cask of Santo -- it's been dry-hopped with Mosaic hops. For $30, you will get a Santo pint glass and a token for a pint of the special brew, and food from Chef Ryan Savoie; he's preparing smoked suckling pig tacos and chicken mole with pumpkin rice. Participate in the Santo costume contest and get your face painted -- it's bound to be a great start to your weekend. Saint Arnold will also serve its other beers, on tap, as well as a few special beers.
