Hit up our #5 spot for a smorgasboard of Mediterranean fare.
Montrose has its fair share of fantastic dining, from upscale classics Mark's and Hugo's to trendy new kids on the block Uchi and Underbelly. But don't be fooled, there are also plenty of amazing, hole-in-the-wall eateries in this 'hood.

Today, we're focusing on the small joints that offer the best bang for your buck. Here's our list of the best cheap (under $10) lunch spots that Montrose has to offer.

5. Aladdin Mediterranean Cuisine

If you want to feast like a king on the cheap, Aladdin's cafeteria-style lunch is the way to go. All items are available à la carte, but we can't skip the $9.99 (or $8.99 for all vegetables) lunch special, where you can choose one entrée and three sides from the vast array of dips, salads, roasted vegetables, and succulent meats set before you. We love the hot fresh pita, tabbouleh salad, Lebanese mashed potatoes, and shish kabob. Oh, and the roasted cauliflower, baked chicken, fried falafel, and lamb shank. No matter what you choose, the guys behind the counter will load up your plate, so you're sure to walk away happy.

4. Eatsie Boys Cafe

With all-day breakfast and monster sandwiches, soups, and salads under $10, you can't go wrong with this food-truck-turned Mmmontrose
cafe
. We like the Tough Guy ($10), a cold fried chicken sandwich with slaw, sriracha ranch dressing, and bread & butter pickles; the shaved Brussels sprouts salad ($9), with roasted beets, bacon, and Meyer-lemon vinaigrette; or the aptly named "Trust Us" soup ($6), a never-before-seen matzah ball pho that is out of this world. Tacking on the boys' house-made ice cream may put you over the $10 limit, but it's oh so worth it.

Linda Rogers Weiss have you ever eaten at one of these? They're in the general area of our old neighborhood.

Eatsie Boys is far from budget friendly and definitely avoid the fried shrimp "banh-mi" if you're looking for a good value.  I found the prices way out of line given the quality of the (limited available) offerings during a recent lunch visit.

This article hits the nail on the head. I've eaten at all of these places in the last six months and they are all fantastics places to eat without breaking the bank. Aladdin's fresh pitas are probably my favorite pitas I've ever had and you can get a few extra with your meal at no extra charge. They are more than willing to accommodate. Lankford grocery is one of my favorite burgers here in Houston, but they also serve a really great Chicken Fried Steak every Thursday that brings me back home. LOVE IT!

Where did you get those prices- from a five years old review? All those items have gone up by about 25%. Guadalupana's food is great- perhaps you'll go there sometime to eat.

All great spots, but I think at least an honorable mention should go to Melange Creperie.  A delicious and filling crepe for five or six bucks?  Can't beat that deal.

@mrogersrealtor

Big big laugh! Have you been to Niko Niko's for gyros? It costs nearly $20 for a lunch tab, prices continue to increase every year, the same crappy plastic and styrofoam service. It's ok, but it's not close to budget dining.

@Usernamenotavailable thanks for the note. Didn't write down exact prices so I found what was apparently an outdated menu. Still with the slight increase, this place is a delicious steal!

I agree. I guess I could have brought it to your attention without adding snark.
