Houston Snubbed on Esquire's List of Best New Restaurants

This list makes us grumpy.
Remember back in August, when Bon Appétit magazine named The Pass & Provisions the sixth-best new restaurant in America? Boy, were we proud of our homeboys Seth Siegel-Gardner and Terrence Gallivan.

On Monday, Esquire magazine came out with its own list of the best new restaurant in 2013, and you know who was noticeably absent from the roundup?

We've certainly had some notable openings in the past year, The Pass & Provisions being one of them. And how 'bout MF Sushi, which also opened this year (and we just know is going to make a stunning comeback)?

What gives, Esquire?

Although the fourth largest city in the US I don't think H-town gets much love for just about anything because it's not really a pretty/scenic city ala San Francisco, Austin, San Antonio, etc. But hey it's ok by me, less people to crowd up all of my favorite places.

Well, at least nobody really reads Esquire.

Stephan Pyle can't seem to get a plate of beans cooked through. The Mrs. and I enjoyed bright moments in seafood and dessert. But the beans on our plates--two differing varieties--were undercooked and inedible. The coffee tasted of a red can.
