Normally wine is paired with cheese, but Jon at Cheesecakes By Jon thinks cheesecake should go hand in hand with a glass of wine as well. For $15 on Wednesday, September 11, at 7 p.m., Cheesecakes By Jon will host the Wine and Cheese(cake) Social at Vintropolis, where guests will sample three different cheesecakes paired with up to six different wines. Jon plans to offer his ultimate turtle chocolate cheesecake, carrot-coconut cream cheesecake and possibly the amaretto cheesecake with a cinnamon-almond crust. With fall just around the corner, he wants to feature cakes that will be more appropriate for the season. Expect to pair those samples with a Moscato, German sweet wine, Sauvignon Blanc and a Red Zinfandel, to name a few. Guests will also have the chance to purchase a slice of their favorite cheesecake (or all three!) for $7. As always, the night will conclude with a glass of champagne.

On Thursday, September 12, from 5 to 8 p.m., Central Market will transform into a "Brewniversity" where you will have the opportunity to walk through the store and sample beers from around the world at nine stations. Check in at the main entrance of Central Market to embark on your journey and sample a variety of beers paired with certain foods, such as a porter paired with chocolate and shredded pork sliders paired with a Hefeweizen. For just $10, you'll receive a commemorative beer glass and access to the event.

While The Pass & Provisions is still celebrating its No. 6 ranking on Bon Appétit's Best New Restaurants list, the innovative restaurant wants you to celebrate its one-year anniversary on Monday, September 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. The double restaurant will be closed for normal business hours, but will be open for its first birthday celebration. Reserve your spot for $60 to enjoy a cocktail party held in the main dining room, bar and patio. Feast on carpaccio, oysters, caviar and eggs, and even eggplant pizzas, all served with various beers, wines and cocktails.

Paula Deen is coming to Houston for MetroCooking Houston on Saturday, September 14, and Sunday, September 15. It's her first public appearance since "the incident everyone is tired of talking about" earlier in the summer. So, if you want to see Paula, along with other celebrity chefs, like The Deen Bros., Sunny Anderson and Brad Turner, a.k.a. The Grill Sergeant, now is your chance. There are a variety of tickets you can choose from, including the 1-Day Theater Pass, costing $63, for either Saturday or Sunday, giving you general admission to see all celebrity chefs featured that day. See Paula Deen during an hour-long cooking demonstration on Saturday or Sunday for $95; you'll also gain access to the exhibit floor during that same day. If a cooking demonstration isn't enough, you can also get your photo taken with Paula Deen after enjoying a brunch featuring her recipes. This event occurs on Saturday and Sunday for $140 per ticket.

Fall is right around the corner and with the cooler season comes a bountiful amount of fruits and vegetables. City Hall Farmers Market opens for the fall season on Wednesday, September 18, from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Each Wednesday until December 18, Houstonians will have the opportunity to purchase fruits, vegetables, ready-to-eat meals and packaged foods from more than 35 vendors. Head on over to City Hall Farmers Market each Wednesday to cook up delicious meals with the freshest ingredients of the season.
