Say farewell to Walter White and Jesse Pinkman by making your own blue candy.

It's the end of an era. A really messed up era, in which a down-on-his luck, cancer-ridden chemistry teacher turned hardcore crystal meth producer has simultaneously stolen and broken our hearts. This Sunday marks the death of Breaking Bad.

We'll miss Walt and Jesse dearly (but not Skyler ... never Skyler), so we thought, what better way to honor our favorite cooks than by making our very own qualityCrystal Meth Rock Candy? We suggest that you serve it at your viewing party.

Here's how to create the perfect batch:

You'll need:

  • Baking sheet, foil, and cooking spray (or a silicon mat)
  • Spatula
  • Metal spoon
  • Stainless steel pot
  • Candy thermometer

    Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 tsp clear extract (lemon, cherry, mint, or whatever you desire)
  • 4-6 drops blue food coloring

As Tuco Salamanca says, this candy "kicks like a mule with its balls wrapped in duct tape!"
    Directions

Coat a baking sheet with aluminum foil and cooking spray (or use your silicon mat).

In a medium-sized pot, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup, using a spatula to get all of the syrup from the measuring cup. Use spoon to stir over medium-high heat until sugar is dissolved.

Insert the candy thermometer and, without stirring, bring the mixture to 290-295 degrees. Watch carefully; you do not want to overcook the mixture (this will caramelize the sugar and turn the candy green). Remove from heat and let cool slightly, until most of the bubbles have stopped breaking the surface.

Add flavoring and blue food coloring, stirring and adding more drops until desired color is reached.

Drizzle the mixture onto the lined sheet, tilting the sheet so that the mixture spreads into a thin, even layer. Let rest at room temperature until mixture is completely cooled and hardened, about 1 hour.

Use a hammer or mallet to smash the candy into pieces. "Tread lightly" while removing the shards from the sheet.

Congrats! You've made the purest batch of sucrose around. Heisenberg would approve.

Keep in an airtight container until ready to serve. Sprinkle it on cake or cupcakes, serve the rocks on a platter, or, for the full Breaking Bad effect, divide the candy into plastic sandwich bags and pass them around.
