Three Brothers Bakery Cupcake Poll: Which Cupcake Is Your Favorite?
Monday, August 19, is National Cupcake Day and Three Brothers Bakery is honoring the sweet holiday by adding a new cupcake to its lineup. But customers get to choose which cupcake they want to see on the menu. Now until August 19, you can taste any of these five and cast your vote for the winner.

Three Brothers Bakery has created five different cupcakes for customers to taste, then cast their vote in the store -- gingerbread, margarita, s'mores, orange dreamsicle and peanut butter & jelly.
I got to sample the five cupcakes and this is how I would rank them.
The peanut butter & jelly cupcake tasted too much like the sandwich.
5. Peanut Butter & Jelly
I am a huge fan of PB&J sandwiches, but this cupcake tasted too much like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The frosting was too thick and tasted too much like peanut butter. I did enjoy the jelly filling and the crumbly cake, but the peanut butter frosting was too overpowering for me to really enjoy the entire cupcake. Sorry, but I will be sticking to peanut butter & jelly sandwiches instead of peanut butter & jelly cupcakes.
When I first bit into this one, I thought it was just a lime cupcake, but it's more than that; it's a margarita cupcake. However, you wouldn't know that unless someone told you.
I might be the only one who thinks this, but margarita cupcakes have been overdone. When I think of a margarita, I'm imagining something tart yet sweet but cool and refreshing; this cupcake is just sweet. The piled-on-thick lime frosting with the cream center and vanilla cake is just way too sweet for me. This one is definitely not a winner to me.
The chocolate cake overpowers the s'mores flavors.
The s'mores cupcake is a dark chocolate cake filled with a marshmallow cream and topped with fluffy marshmallow frosting coated with a rim of graham cracker crumbs. It also has a graham cracker dipped in chocolate sticking out of the top of the frosting.
I love the moist chocolate cake, but I was disappointed by the lack of s'mores flavors. The cake overpowers the rest of the graham cracker and marshmallow flavors, so this cupcake is more of a chocolate cake than anything else. If there were a balance of all three flavors (graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate), then this cupcake would have been a better contender for first place. It should be redone with a graham cracker flavored cake with a chocolate swirl, and the marshmallow frosting should be toasted.
If it weren't August, I would love to see this cupcake added to the Three Brothers Bakery menu.
If it weren't the middle of August, I would say this cupcake was my favorite, but I think it's better suited to joining the lineup in the holiday season. That being said, it's pretty good. It's light, not too sweet and has a subtle hint of gingerbread that isn't too strong. I love the simplicity of the decorations, too. Creamy gingerbread frosting with a dusting of brown colored sugar is cute and perfect for this simple cupcake. Hey, sometimes simple is all you need.
The simple combination of orange frosting, a cream-filled center and a vanilla cake makes this cupcake a winner in my book.
1. Orange Dreamsicle
This cupcake was by far the best of the bunch. It's perfect for the summer season with the bright orange ruffled frosting and a dusting of sugar crystals, and the cream-filled center of the vanilla cake. It's beautifully decorated and all of the components of an orange dreamsicle are perfectly executed.
Have you tried the cupcakes at Three Brothers Bakery yet? Which one is your favorite?
