Have a cupcake today; it's National Cupcake Day!
I don't care what anyone else says, cupcakes are awesome. I have said it before and I will say it again, why wouldn't you want a cupcake? It's a personal dessert all to yourself, and there is a perfect proportion of frosting to cake; cupcakes will always make me a very happy girl.

Today is the day you should put your negative thoughts about the cupcake craze being overrated aside and just eat a dang cupcake because today is National Cupcake Day. Here are ten places in Houston where you can get your cupcake fix and satisfy that sweet tooth. If there's any day it is completely justified to splurge on a cupcake, today is the day. It's also Monday, so you should start your week off on a good note, or a sweet note.

10. Gigi's Cupcakes

Gigi's Cupcakes has three locations around town, including the newest location downtown in the tunnels of the JPMorgan Chase Tower. Gigi's makes some of the prettiest cupcakes with creative ingredients, like the Hunka Chunka Banana Love cupcake topped with a banana chip or the Lemon Ice Box cupcake where the lemon cake is filled with cream cheese and topped with cream cheese frosting studded with crushed vanilla wafer cookies. In fact, you can get this refreshingly sweet and tart cupcake on National Cupcake Day because it's available on Mondays.

Not only are the cupcakes at Three Brothers Bakery huge, they are beautiful.
9. Three Brothers Bakery

I absolutely love the cupcakes at Three Brothers Bakery because the cake itself is so moist. For me, the frosting on any cupcake can be too much, and more times than not I end up eating the whole cake with just a little bit of frosting, so the cake is the most important part to me. Because Three Brothers Bakery creates amazing cakes every day, the cupcakes are jumbo and fully decorated. Kids will love the baseball cupcakes (they actually look like baseballs, how cool?) and the M&M jumbo cupcake. Majority of these cupcakes are filled with either a custard, fudge or crème filling, so you're in for a treat and a sugar high. Don't say I didn't warn you.

8. Treat Cupcakes

For those of you who live near Vintage Park, Treat Cupcakes is the place to go on National Cupcake Day. These cupcakes are piled high with frosting and there's always a little decoration to go on top, like a drizzle of caramel or chocolate sauce for the Salted Caramel and Samoa cupcakes, or simply a fondant medallion with the bakery's name. Treat knows how to pack a lot of flavor into its cupcakes, like the Choco-nutter, a chocolate cake filled with chocolate ganache and topped with peanut butter buttercream frosting garnished with chocolate chips and a drizzle of caramel sauce, or the sweet and salty Maple Bacon cupcake, complete with a maple buttercream frosting.

I'm going to have to agree with Sara. Houston does exist outside of the loop.

again, you have left out any places outside the loop (minus one little place on the westside)... Houston is more than just inside the 610 loop... Houston spreads out up 290 and 249, both sides of I-10, down and up 59, both sides of I-45. There are two places in the Clear Lake area (Nassau Bay, which is technically Houston) that have cupcakes I would choose over Crave any day... Please remember, we do eat out here in the suburbs... We may not be able to see Downtown from our front door, but we are still part of the great city of Houston. And most of us are not able to drive in town every day for meals and treats... Please research places all over the city limits...
