Sushi and Sake 101 @ RA Sushi
Saturday, 11 a.m.
3908 Westheimer

Making sushi is definitely an art, but you don't have to leave it up to the masters once you've taken a class in sushi rolling. The chefs at Japanese chain RA Sushi will teach students about the history of sushi and how to prepare sushi at home, then they'll lead the class in sake flight pairings. There will also be non-alcoholic beverages available, of course, but why would you want them? Tickets are $40 with sake and $35 without sake and include the class, optional sake pairings, edamame and miso soup. Guests will also receive a gift card good for a complimentary lunch at RA Sushi. Space is limited, so call RA Sushi to reserve your spot soon.

Watson's Brew Fest @ Watson's House of Ales
Saturday, 12-6 p.m.
14656 Grisby

In what they hope will become an annual event, Watson's House of Ales is hosting a Brew Fest to highlight the many craft breweries in Houston. The festival will feature samples from eight local breweries: No Label, Karbach, Saint Arnold, Buffalo Bayou, Southern Star, Fort Bend, 8th Wonder, Leprechaun Cider and Lone Pint. For $25, you get 16 beer tickets, but you can always purchase more samples. Food will also be available for purchase. Eat and drink to the sounds of local classic rock band, S.N.A.F.U. and the great company of your fellow beer-lovers. Word on the street is there will be a few special casks tapped just for the festival. Tickets are available at Watson's House of Ales.

Saint Arnold Downtown Pub Crawl @ Market Square Park
Saturday, 2-6:30 p.m.
300 Travis

Saint Arnold is down to the last bit of its Summer Pils, and they're doling it out in style at this year's Downtown Pub Crawl. The folks from Saint Arnold will be handing out tickets between 2 and 3 p.m. at any of the stops on the pub crawl (full list of stops available here). There's no cost to be a part of the pub crawl, but you do have to pay for any beers you order. If you get your ticket punched at every stop, you'll win a free pint glass. Designated drivers can get tickets and win a free pint glass too! The final stop will be Market Square, where crawlers can revel in their drunkenness and make toasts with their free glasses. Cheers!

Hemingday @ Brazos Bookstore
Saturday, 2-8 p.m.
2421 Bissonnet

July 20 is Hemingway's 114th birthday, and to celebrate, Brazos Bookstore is hosting HemingDay. Guests are encouraged to come dressed like Hem for a look-a-like contest, display their hunting prowess with a safari challenge (not entirely clear on what wild game folks will be hunting in the bookstore) and test their Hemingway knowledge with trivia. Down House will be providing Hemingway-inspired cocktails including fancy daiquiris (Hemingway's favorite). Admission is free, and the fun will continue late into the evening. It's set to end at 8 p.m., but once the daiquiris start flowing, the party might feel inclined to move to a bar and continue the revelry. It's what Hemingway would have wanted.
