GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Up 2013: Eat Locally to Support Your Local Food Bank
In just a couple of weeks, Houston Restaurant Weeks will begin, but to get your stomachs prepared for the exceptional grub you will feast on for the entire month of August, you can celebrate the great Lone Star State during GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Up July 22-28.

GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Up is celebrated in every major city in the state and surrounding areas with restaurants serving meals from locally sourced or produced ingredients. Each restaurant will donate money from each meal served during the week to its city's local food bank. Support these local restaurants so you can help support the Houston Food Bank. Remember that Houston Restaurant Weeks benefits the Houston Food Bank as well, so here's another way you can give back to your community.
Conroe and Montgomery restaurants will donate money to the Montgomery County Food Bank, and Galveston restaurants will donate money to the Galveston County Food Bank.

Pair your wine selection with four 2-ounce mesquite grilled medallions with a baked potato and your choice of two sides for $12.99. You can also select a beer from 42 Texas craft beers.

Carmelo's Ristorante is offering three courses for $45 per person and each glass of wine costs $10. Choose from Gulf jumbo shrimp wrapped in pancetta or duck breast with Friona zucchini pancakes, a Sicilian orange marmalade and Grand Marnier reduction with pepperoncino rosso for an appetizer. For the entree, choose from Gulf red snapper with a fava bean risotto or prime rib from Sam Kane in Corpus Christi with roasted sweet potatoes, celery and a rosemary-horseradish cream sauce. End the night on a sweet note from anything off of the dessert cart.

This newly opened restaurant is offering a four-course tasting dinner for $39 per person and 50 percent off of all Texas beers. Start the meal with Gulf grilled oysters with heirloom tomatoes, Texas pecan pesto, apple-wood smoked bacon and Parmesan Reggiano. Sample another crustacean from the Gulf with pan-seared Gulf shrimp finished with Texas grapefruit gastrique and pico de gallo made from locally-sourced heirloom tomatoes. Next, feast on seared Texas quail with mixed local greens and smoked Gouda blue grits. End your meal with classic cookies and milk.
