Upcoming Events: What Do Duck Dynasty and Robert Earl Keen Have in Common?
Any and all crawfish-eating you've been doing so far this season has just been practice for the main event: the annual Texas Crawfish Festival in Old Town Spring, which is coming up on April 19 through 21 and April 26 through 28. The festival has to be two weekends to pack in all the food and entertainment, and you just may find yourself driving north two Saturdays in a row as a result.

Now in its 27th year, the Texas Crawfish Festival will be hosting special guest and fellow crawfish lover Uncle Si from the popular A&E series Duck Dynasty. Everyone's favorite bearded uncle will be at the festival on Saturday, April 20 along with musical guest Robert Earl Keen. Other acts booked for the festival's stages include Jack Ingram, Los Lonely Boys, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears and The Toadies -- some of the best musical talent Texas has ever produced.
Pre-sale tickets are on sale now for $10 for each day. There are only a limited number of these tickets available, and the price will rise to $14 once they are sold out. Children under 12 are free. Admission to the festival gets you music live entertainment, along with some surprises that the organizers have yet to reveal. Food and drinks, carnival rides and games are not included in the ticket price.
The Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a kick-off dinner that's bringing the Brennan's family back together. The so-called "A Family Affair" dinner on Wednesday, April 24 will take place on the historic grounds of the Imperial Sugar Factory in Sugar Land and will feature current and former Brennan's chefs all cooking in the same kitchen and serving a menu of favorites paired with 10 different wines.

Current executive chef Danny Trace will be joined by former chefs Randy Evans (now of Haven), Mark Holley (previously of Pesce; now opening his own restaurant) and Jon Hebert (now of the Houston Country Club). Their courses will be matched by 10 premier vintages that will include selections from Sterling Vineyards, Far Niente Winery, Iron Horse Vineyards, Stag's Leap and more.
Ticket prices for the Family Affair are $175 each, but tables can be purchased for a slight discount: The costs are $1,050 for a table of six, $1,400 for a table of eight and $1,750 for a table of 10. Tickets are available online. All proceeds go to benefit a scholarship endowment at the University of Houston's Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management.

On The Rocks Bartender Challenge
Thursday, April 25
6:30 to 9 p.m.
Post Oak Grill Sugar Land, 1550 Lake Pointe Parkway
This mixology competition challenges the city's best bartenders to showcase Sailor Jerry rum in a one-night-only cocktail. The event is emceed by the Tipsy Texan himself, David Allan, and features samples of the cocktails as well as light bites from Post Oak Grill.
The Grand Tasting
Friday, April 26
7 to 9:30 p.m.
Sugar Land Marriott Town Square, 16090 City Walk Sugar Land
Similar to Menu of Menus or Big Bite Night at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, this tasting event brings in chefs from across the country to sample their food in the grand ballroom of the Sugar Land Marriott. This year's chefs include Shanna Horner O'Hea and Brian O'Hea from The Kennebunk Inn (Kennebunk, Maine), Peng Looi of August Moon Chinese Bistro and the Asiatique Restaurant (Louisville, Kentucky) and Shawn Cirkiel of parkside, the backspace and olive & june (Austin).

Imperial Sugar Land Warehouse, 198 Kempner
Stroll through the historic Imperial Sugar Land Three Bay Warehouse and Imperial Char House as you enjoy bites from more than 40 Houston-area restaurants and sips provided by 50 different wine, spirits and beer vendors.
