The Draft: A Monster of a Beer Festival

Over the weekend, charity organizers and a host of volunteers staged The Draft, a charity beer festival that has wrapped up Houston Beer Week for the past three years. Known as Monsters of Beer in years prior, the third annual beer festival sought to raise over $30,000 to benefit local charity Friday Harbour, which provides housing and outreach to families and patients receiving cancer treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Held for the second year in a row at Guadalupe Plaza park on the northern edge of the East End, The Draft featured beers from over 60 different breweries throughout the U.S. In addition, over a dozen Texas brewers highlighted their beers, including new up-and-comer Texian Brewing from Richmond.

The ticket price included live music throughout the day, free food from the likes of Ninfa's on Navigation and El Hidalguense and punch cards for a dozen beer tastings. Also available for purchase were VIP packages that provided access to a private lounge
area and a bottle share event featuring rare beers from around the world.

Winning. What, we don't know.
