With all the hoopla about Starbucks' shortage of Pumpkin Spice Lattes, I searched the Internet for a copycat recipe so you can make this wonderful fall drink at home.

That was before I found out that Houston is in the clear of having to suffer from the loss of Pumpkin Spice Lattes. But, just in case the apocalypse happens and we cannot fulfill our pumpkin cravings with the classic Starbucks drink, here is how you can be an at-home barista and whip up Pumpkin Spice Lattes whenever you please.
It's crazy how easy it is to make such a tasty coffee drink. Of course, Starbucks has its secrets when it comes to making their beverages so wonderful, but this recipe comes close to the original Pumpkin Spice Latte.
First, heat two cups of milk in a small sauce pot. Personalize your drink by using whatever type of milk you prefer: whole, 2 percent, 1 percent, skim or, for those of you who want a truly rich drink, half-and-half.
Next, add two tablespoons of canned pure pumpkin. The creamy pumpkin will melt into the milk when you heat it on the stove. With the simple addition of canned pumpkin, you will instantly smell the wonderful fall flavors of the soon-to-be Pumpkin Spice Latte. Add two tablespoons of sugar; you can use a sugar substitute or real granulated sugar. Finally, add half a teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice.
Two additions of pumpkin flavors make this latte delicious.
Stir the milk mixture together and remove from the heat right before it begins to boil. Then, add two tablespoons of vanilla extract. The vanilla will change the color of the drink to a darker brown and adds a delicious depth of flavor to enhance the pumpkin.
Pour the milk into a blender to pulse. The pulsing makes the drink frothier so it has a creamy consistency. Finally, add 1/4 cup of your regular coffee or four shots of espresso. Stir together and top with whipped cream and sprinkle pumpkin pie spice on top to complete your at-home Pumpkin Spice Latte.
Just add 1/4 cup of coffee for each serving.
It's creamy, warm, delicious and so easy to make. No need to panic if Starbucks runs out of Pumpkin Spice Lattes again.
