BB's Oyster Po-Boy
You know what I love about SeptembeR, OctobeR, NovembeR and DecembeR? It's oyster season! During these months, oysters are at their peak. For the next few weeks, I'll be sampling the most memorable and tasty oyster dishes in Houston.

No. 6, Pearly Whites Po-Boy at BB's Cafe

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good po-boys to be had in this town. For catfish, I head straight to Antone's, for soft-shell crab, Calliope's.

But when it comes to the oyster po-boy, I give the prize to BB's Cafe.

In the "Pearly Whites" po-boy, you'll find plump, juicy oysters in a light cornmeal batter, refreshing shredded lettuce, tangy pickles and a rich, slightly spicy rémoulade, all housed in a crusty French roll. Some call BB's po-boys "overstuffed," but I don't like that descriptor for the way in which it even suggests there's too much in this sandwich. There is no diminishing utility (or deliciousness) when it comes to fried oysters.

Also, in terms of portions, go big or go home at BB's. All are available in half-sizes, but why be 50 percent content?

The list so far:

No. 7: Fried oysters and deviled eggs at BRC Gastropub
No. 8: Oyster stew at Danton's
No. 9: Oysters Baton Rouge at Pappadeaux
No. 10: Oyster caesar salad at Ragin' Cajun
