Brenner's on the Bayou is once again hosting its Fall Beer Festival.
A shuttered business on downtown's Main Street is getting a new tenant -- for the night. 304 Main will be hosting a one-night-only speakeasy on Monday, October 1, from 7 to 10 p.m., sponsored by Knob Creek Rye Whiskey. Local bartenders will be shaking cocktails featuring the rye and chef Jonathan Jones -- who once hosted similar speakeasies at Beaver's -- will be serving delicious food to pair with the drinks. Space is very limited, so reserve your spot now by emailing houstonrsvp at aol dot com with the password for entry: RYE.

It's not rodeo season, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy a good hoedown. Haven is throwing one - complete with live bluegrass music - on Sunday, October 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. to benefit Urban Harvest. Executive chef Randy Evans will serve a family-style fried chicken dinner that Sunday night, all of it sourced from local fields and farms. Tickets are $125 a person, with proceeds going to Urban Harvest. Call 713-880-5540 for reservations.

Next weekend, indulge in two morning favorites -- coffee and cinnamon rolls -- at IKEA Houston. On Saturday and Sunday, you'll get a free cup of coffee with any breakfast purchase at the furniture store/Swedish restaurant. If you're extra hungry, get a free cup of coffee AND a free cinnamon bun with the purchase of IKEA's "bigger breakfast." More of an at-home coffee drinker? Buy a six-pack of cinnamon buns and receive a free bag of coffee! Don't want to buy anything at all? IKEA will be sampling its UTZ-certified coffee in the Swedish Food Market from noon to 6 p.m. both days.

October usually provides some of Houston's best weather all year, so get outside and enjoy it at Brenner's on the Bayou and its annual Fall Beer Festival. Beer enthusiasts are invited to Brenner's on Saturday, October 27, from 3 to 6 p.m. to sample more than 40 Texas artisan brews paired with chef crafted cuisine while enjoying live entertainment by Molly & the Ringwalds at Brenner's lush outdoor setting. Food will be provided by Ryan Braden from Brenner's on the Bayou, Brian Miner from the Original Brenner's, Carlos Rodriquez from Vic & Anthony's, Chef Trevor White from Oceanaire and Morton's and pastry chef Megan Edwards.

Admission for the Fall Beer Festival is $50 (plus tax) in advance and $65 (plus tax) at the door. VIP tickets go for $100 (plus tax). Tickets are available for purchase online at www.brennersfest.com or by calling 713-868-4444.

Finally, the cooler weather provides the perfect time to start working off all the food you've been eating this summer -- and Roots Juice wants to help you, for free. Every Thursday morning from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., the juice bar and bistro will be offering free yoga classes from Big Yoga. Afterwards, you can recharge and gear up for the day with a juice tasting at Roots. Although the classes are free, Big Yoga encourages a monthly donation to charity while you're there.
