Everyone enjoys Big Bite Night.
If you went to the recent LaB 5555 event at the Houston Museum of Natural Science (which featured our own mixology competition), you know how awesome the new paleontology hall is. What does that have to do with food? Big Bite Night is just around the corner, that's what. And if you've never gone in the past, the new paleontology hall gives you a great reason to head out this year.

Big Bite Night will kick off at 6 p.m. on September 27, and runs through 9 p.m. That should give you plenty of time to enjoy food and adult beverage samples from a wide range of restaurants and caterers from all over the city.

Also new to Big Bite Night this year -- besides the paleontology hall -- are food trucks. You'll find H-Town StrEATs, Juice Girl and No Borders, which will post up on the main plaza just as they do at LaB 5555 events.

If the weather this year isn't hot enough for you, head down to Stafford on September 15 and 16 for the annual Houston Hot Sauce Festival. Now in its twelfth year, the festival showcases award-winning, heat-packing products such as hot sauce, salsa, marinades, rubs, wing sauce, pickled products, jams/jellies, dips and more. (Plus, as always, there will be plenty of food and beverages for sale.)

Vendors come to the Hot Sauce Festival from all over the country -- and even from as far away as Australia. Admission is $8, which gets you samples all day long and which also goes to benefit the Snowdrop Foundation. Snowdrop is dedicated to assisting patients and families at Texas Children's Cancer Center through funding for continued research to eliminate childhood cancer and scholarships for college-bound pediatric cancer patients and survivors.

Since the first dinner that Triniti hosted along with local orchestra Mercury Baroque was such a success this past June, they're doing it all over again. This time, however, the dishes and the accompanying music will be all different. Says a press release:

[The event will be] pairing live music choreographed by Mercury's Maestro Antoine Plante to an eight-course dinner and wine tasting menu created by Triniti Executive Chef Ryan Hildebrand and Sommelier Fred Zennati. The dinner, "Autumn Concerto in Eight Courses," will provide a sneak peek of what's to come on the restaurant's new fall menu, which will officially launch the next day, and promises to be a sensory journey of sight, sound and taste. It will take place at the restaurant on Sunday evening, September 23, 2012. Forty percent of all ticket sales will benefit Mercury by supporting the orchestra's concerts and vital music education programs.

Dinner is $220 per person, plus tax and gratuity. For reservations or additional information, call 713.527-9090 or contact info@trinitirestaurant.com.
