A Daily Deal With Chick-fil-A That Also Benefits HSPVA

Categories: Discount Dining

Politics of its company president aside, Chick-fil-A has the kind of food that many Houstonians enjoy eating at their local independently owned outlets. And this week we're making it even easier.

This week's Voice Daily Deal, which starts Thursday, is only available at the 5001 Beechnut Street and 2715 Southwest Freeway at Kirby Drive locations, and gives chicken lovers a chance to get half off the cost and have 10 percent of what they spend go to the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

Included in our Daily Deal offer are these two notes:

Houston Press Note:

As part of this VOICE Daily Deal, the Houston Press and Jesse Chaluh's Chick-fil-A stores will be donating 10 percent of all sales to the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in the Houston ISD. This deal allows us to show our support for local businesses as well as raise money for a good cause, the talented students and teachers at HSPVA. So we hope you take advantage of this deal to enjoy some good food, and help out some deserving kids in some sensational programs as well.

Franchisee Note:

Each Chick-fil-A is independently owned and operated. At our locations in Houston, we strive to serve great food in a timely manner and a clean environment with excellent customer service. We welcome all customers and select team members regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation. We do not elect to be a part of a political agenda. We simply want to serve great food with compassion to all who visit or cater with us. We would appreciate any comments about corporate please be addressed to them directly. We also encourage you to get to know the independent owners of each location, before passing judgment on them. Thank you for respecting our independently-run business as we respect all who visit us.

Food and wine and beer and entertainment is really NOT political. Otherwise we are in a bad bad mess.

@Jesusdeportobene it is when the corporation from whom you buy makes huge donations [$5million+] to a rabidly antigay culture war organization.  it is chick-fil-a that made this political, not any one else.

Is this a paid advertisement?I wonder if they know that a lot of gay kids go to HSPVA?

Chick-fil-A made their fucking bed. NO SHOWTUNES FOR YOU!

the franchisee note is lovely, if somewhat misleading.  The profits from each local franchise still go to corporate headquarters and still get donated to rabidly antigay organizations that engage in lobbying governments to maintain laws that keep LGBT folks and our families in second class citizen status.   Heck, they even lobbied our government *not* to express opposition to Uganda's proposed bill that would make being gay a potentially capital crime.  and then there's the organizations that use the guise of "therapy" to torture gay folks into "changing" their sexual orientation.  I do appreciate the irony, though, of donations to the school for the arts, since we all know that there can't possibly be any gay folks there!

"Each Chick-fil-A is independently owned and operated ... We do not elect to be a part of a political agenda."

They are not owners, they are investors - basically glorified GMs with a good profit sharing deal.  He either has no clue as to how his operating agreement works, or he is being intentionally deceptive.  CFA gets most of the profit, and by investing in CFA, he does indeed elect to be part of CFA's political agenda.  I think I'll just write a check to HSPVA.

@FattyFatBastard How dare people not choose to eat at a place because they donate to hate groups. The nerve of of some people.

@FattyFatBastard Care to explain how it is hateful?

And since when can't men call out sexism?

@H_e_x Lol.  Sorry, I thought you were a guy. I'm talking about the faux outrage being hateful.

@FattyFatBastard How is not supporting a business that works to deny rights to other Americans hateful? You are the one who used sexism to demean me. Why? Because women are irrational and can't be taken seriously?

@H_e_x Yawn.  I don't have a dog in the fight.  I just like mocking faux outrage that folks like you spew out.  The only one sounding hateful are you and the Donate fellow.

@FattyFatBastard Sexism, how quaint. Got anything else to add? Maybe something homophobic, or perhaps something racist? I know you have it in you.

@H_e_x And the nerve of me to state my opinion!  I know, right?
