Top 5 Stuffed Crescent Rolls

These crescent rolls ooze with sugar.
Pillsbury crescent rolls are one of the most delicious, scrumptious and addictive pre-made bread products. Pop them out of their package, separate into beautiful triangles, roll up into a beautiful crescent and bake until perfection. I especially love crescent rolls at Thanksgiving; they're always a necessity at family gatherings.

By themselves, these buttery and flaky rolls are fantastic, but here is my top five list of things you can stuff into the crescent rolls that makes them so much tastier.

5. Nutella and Raspberry Jam

Pretty much anything you put Nutella on or in will be amazing. The super-chocolatey spread tastes great on toast, with pretzel sticks and even by the spoonful...no judging, I know you've done this before. Simply spread a heaping tablespoon of Nutella on the larger end of the crescent roll, dollop with another tablespoon of raspberry jam and top with a fresh raspberry. These rolls are more delicate than the other stuffed crescent rolls, so carefully seal the sides of the roll to keep all of the Nutella and jam stuffed inside -- it's a pillow of sweet goodness.

4. Marzipan and Dark Chocolate Chips

These taste just like a cookie stuffed in a crescent roll.
Fellow food blogger Nicholas Hall said his mother used to make one half of the crescent roll batch stuffed with marzipan and the other stuffed with dark chocolate. I thought marzipan was only used for making decorative pieces for cakes and cupcakes; I never would have thought to stuff them in crescent rolls. So, I decided to combine the marzipan with the dark chocolate (I do in fact have a major sweet tooth), and the result was phenomenal. The marzipan melts slightly, while the dark chocolate spreads throughout the crescent roll. It tastes like chocolate chip cookie dough stuffed into a crescent roll. Who doesn't love eating raw cookie dough?

3. Fig Preserves and Cream Cheese

Cream cheese and fig preserves make a bite of happiness.
I always have fig preserves in my refrigerator. I love the naturally sweet jelly and the bits and pieces of delicate figs. Pair it with cream cheese, and you have a match made in heaven. The cream cheese and fig preserves explode in your mouth once you take the first bite out of the crescent roll. I love how the cream cheese doesn't completely melt and lets the fig preserves caramelize inside the roll. Use your favorite preserve with cream cheese if you prefer something other than figs.

2. Ham and Cheddar Cheese

Seal the cheese with two pieces of ham for a wonderful kolache-flavored crescent roll.
This combination tastes just like a kolache. All you have to do is place one piece of ham, preferably honey-baked (I love the sweetness), along with a small piece of cheddar cheese, or any type of cheese you prefer, on the dough and seal with one more piece of ham. Roll the crescent roll just as you normally would and bake until golden-brown. The cheese will ooze out the sides of the crescent roll, so if you want to secure all of the wonderful savory goodies inside, fold the sides of the dough over the top of the roll. These are best served warm; you'll love the sweet ham paired with the rich cheddar cheese.

1. Dates, Goat Cheese and Honey

Honey is a perfect addition to the stuffed date.
Stuffed dates with goat cheese and honey are perfect together, but place them into a crescent roll and you've got yourself an amazing appetizer. The combination of dates and honey adds a natural sweetness to the crescent roll, while the creamy goat cheese balances out their natural sweetness. If you want a more savory stuffing, wrap the stuffed date in bacon or ham.
