Five Fast Food Chicken Dishes We Want Back (Immediately)

Oh where, oh where have my Chicken Fries gone?
We've already taken a look at the Discontinued Snack Foods that we want back on the shelves, like O'boisies Potato Chips and those creepy little Giggles cookies. Now its time to take a stand and demand that a few fast foods make their way back to the menu board, our hearts, and our guts. And we're starting with chicken.

Here are the Top 5 Fast Food Chicken Dishes that We Wish Were Still Around:

5. Burger King's Chicken Fries

Terrible news alert - BK's Chicken Fries were discontinued this year. WTF! These sticks of fried chicken brought me back to my college days, when I was young and carefree...and usually drunk at my boyfriend's fraternity celebrating a Beirut victory with a shotgun of Beast and a barrel of chicken fries.

How dare you take this sweet, sweet memory away from me, BK? It's just, sometimes I need that reminder that I was once cool, you know? Is that too much to ask? I guess it is...

4. KFC's Chicken Littles

Up until the early '90s, you could find a $.39 chicken sandwich dubbed a "Chicken Little" at KFC. It was similar to a White Castle chicken sandwich, but better because The Colonel said so. With just a seedless bun, a nugget of chicken and a smear of mayo, the sandwich was teeny-tiny. So obviously that meant you could eat like five of them and not feel bad about it, even though you totally should have felt bad about it.

Ugh, I miss them. And apparently I'm not the only one. There's even a Facebook page devoted to bringing it back. You hear that, KFC? Listen to your people - the KFC Snacker is just not the same. And while you're at it, bring back the Extra Tasty Crispy chicken, too.

3. Burger King's International Chicken Sandwiches

How gross/good does this look?
Once upon a time, Burger King introduced an International Menu, meaning it offered Italian, French and American versions of a chicken sandwich, because three countries is totally international. Regardless of how ridiculous the sandwiches may have been, I miss these guys.

You know how something that can be nasty-good? Like, it's totally disgusting, but you still crave it? That was the Burger King Italian Chicken Sandwich, the chain's regular oblong chicken patty topped with too-sweet marinara and processed mozzarella cheese. Mmmm. There was also a "French" version, a Cordon Bleu, which was the same patty topped with sliced ham, Swiss cheese and mayo, and an American version, topped with American cheese (obvs), lettuce, tomato and mayo.

All fried chicken sandwiches -- all nasty-good.

2. Popeye's Delta Sauce

Okay, this one may not be chicken - but it was the perfect accompaniment to Popeye's Louisiana-style peppery and crisp fried chicken. The cream-based sauce was tangy and slightly spicy, with a hint of Creole mustard and a kick of cayenne. Luckily, there are several copycat recipes (like this one) floating around the interwebs in case you need a little Delta in your life.

1. Wendy's Chicken Fresh Stuffed Pita

Do you remember Wendy's stuffed pitas? Am I the only one who liked these? I may have been, because they're gone now and you all suck.

It may have been the illusion that I was "eating healthy," or the almost disgusting amount of thick shredded parmesan topping, but I used to love these warm, soft flatbread pitas. Stuffed with chunks of chicken, chopped romaine, shredded red cabbage, grated carrot, salty cheese and Caesar dressing, these pitas made the seventh-grade me a happy, happy girl. That and Frosty-dipped french fries (thank god I played basketball).

What fast food items do you miss? Can we all agree it's best McDonald's Chicken Fajitas are no longer served, or did you actually like those things? Share below.

My Voice Nation Help

Whataburger buffalo ranch chicken sandwich. All the crunch, but it had white cheese, ranch and buffalo sauce. Now I have to go home and add ranch and hot sauce and pay a dollar for yellow cheese.

and JIB used to have fried burritos way back in the day, they were tasty!

The summer after my senior year in high school, my friend and I drove around constantly looking for records and used record stores, garage sales and the like. By the end of the summer, I had two foot lockers filled with great vinyl (now long gone as I traded in the plastic for digital years ago, but I digress). Because I had basically left my high school job and was relegated to things like delivering phone books for $17 a day, I was broke much of the time. One afternoon, we were STARVING and were literally down to pocket change. We rolled into a KFC and ordered one chicken little and two cups of water for a grand total of 50 cents. We split the tiny sandwich in half and felt like kings.

I actually wish they would bring back the Breakfast Pocket from jack in the box.  The version they have now is not even close.

I blame them for me wearing husky jeans in elementary school.

I loved Jack in the Box's regular chicken sandwich they served until 2003. It was long like BK's (but better) with cheese, veggies and mayo. It wasn't spicy or a club or ranchy - it was just a regular chicken sandwich with cheese. I spent Spring 2003 abroad in Europe and the first thing I wanted when I got off the plane was my #2 with a root beer. I almost cried (hi, jet lag) when it was NO LONGER ON THE MENU. I was so pissed I called and left Jack a message. You couldn't get a regular chicken sandwich with fixins for years after that. They have the tiny dollar menu one now, I believe and the massive double decker one from time to time. At least I think they do, I only go for a egg nog milkshake around Christmas now.
