Phamily Bites was one of the most popular trucks at last year's Haute Wheels Houston.
Haute Wheels Houston, the food truck festival brought to you by the same creators as Brewmaster's Craft Beer Festival, will be rolling into town on May 12 and 13. The festival, now in its second year, will bring together a bunch of Houston food trucks, live entertainment by local musicians, and an assortment of libations to keep you quenched.

A whopping 29 food trucks will serve up everything from gourmet savory dishes to decadent sweet treats to vegan-friendly cuisine from noon to 6 p.m. on both festival days. Expect to see some of your favorite trucks parked at the festival, including Bernie's Burger Bus, winner of the Houston Press' 2012 Burger Bracket; Coreanos, the new addition to the Houston food truck scene that offers Korean-Mexican fusion food; Bare Bowls, which serves up healthy bites with a focus on seasonal ingredients; and Frosted Betty, the truck that produces some of the best cupcakes in Houston. And that's just a peek into what you can expect at the festival. Check out the comprehensive list of all the trucks that will be at Haute Wheels.

Drink-wise, expect to stay cool with brews and vino from the Craft Beer and Wine Garden, plus wines by Alexander Valley Vineyards -- the award-winning winemakers that produce nine varietal wines and proprietary blends on a family-owned estate, and Freixenet, one of the world's leading producers of sparkling wines.

Confirmed musical acts for Saturday are local musicians Two Star Symphony, Southern Backtones, and Craig Kinsey. Sunday's entertainment will include Wheel Workers, Winter Wallace, and Roky Moon & Bolt.

The addition of more food truck participants and more shaded areas, along with a limited number of tickets to the festival being sold should ensure that this year's event will be bigger and better than last year's.

And, you'll leave the festival with a warm and fuzzy feeling -- partial proceeds from the event will go to Houston Community College Foundation, which helps improve Houstonians' access to higher education.

If you're planning on going, today's the day to purchase your tickets, as the VOICE Deal of the Day brings you VIP tickets for the festival for a mere $35, a steal considering that the tickets' face value is $70 and they include the following:

• 11:30 a.m. entry into the festival (all others won't be allowed in until noon) on either Saturday or Sunday;
• four vouchers for premium wine and craft beer selections with savory snack foods from H-E-B's Cafe on the Run;
• access to a VIP tent with private restrooms;
• Peroni beer sunglasses;
• a gift bag with H-E-B food samples.

Don't forget - the tickets are being sold exclusively here, and once they're gone, they're gone. Happy truckin'!

One day of devouring everything that comes your way after so much of hard work and exercise to maintain your body. Any way that would be a good time to spend.

Hi! Does the cost of admission include any food samples?

I am so leary of this even though I have friends who will be there with their trucks.  Last year was such a mad house.  Even with VIP entrance, a 30 minute headstart doesn't necessarily get you much of one considering the crowds that you had last year.  Perhaps it should be a "Speed Pass" to go to the front of the line???

We understand your concerns.  Just a note that there will be quite a few more trucks than last year.  We love the speed pass idea, but not sure other ticketed guests would feel the same way.  Thanks for the great comments.

So... You expect us to pay to eat at a food truck exposition; however that doesn't include the cost of eating from said trucks?  Sorry guys no thanks.. :)
