It's high crawfish season in Houston, with a slew of different boils coming up to satisfy all your head-sucking pursuits. But first, you don't want to miss this weekend's big charity event: Kicking Cancer's Ass.

The fundraiser dinner will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 25 at Ralph Smith Photography at 5226 Elm Street, followed by an after-party at Anvil Bar & Refuge. At the after-party, guests can enjoy "The Bond Buddha," a cocktail created in honor of Jonathan Platon, a huge supporter of Houston's food community who passed away last October.

This Sunday's fundraiser in his honor will feature chefs from across the city, including: Joshua Martinez's food truck, The Modular; Justin Yu (Oxheart); Seth Siegel-Gardner and Terrence Gallivan (both of Pilot Light RG); Mark Parmley (The Capitol at St. Germain); Lyle Bento (Underbelly); and baker Jody Stevens (Jodycakes). Plates will be available for purchase a la carte. Tickets may be purchased online or at the door; $15 for admission and $5 per food ticket.

Silent auction items will also be up for grabs, including a signed copy of the highly sought-after Modernist Cuisine book set, wine from Jonathan Platon's own collection, a Jeroboam (double magnum) from Bandol Wines, gift certificates for popular restaurants such as Underbelly, Hay Merchant, Reef, Vic & Anthony's, and La Mexicana, as well as many more items. The silent auction grand prize is a vacation package that includes four nights at the Fiesta Americana Grand Vacation Resort in Los Cabos, Baja California, Mexico along with coach airfare, valued at $2,500.

As promised, Hubcap Grill owner Ricky Craig is hosting a crawfish boil -- but it's not the "Duck Fallas" party everyone was hoping for. Instead, expect a low-key time with lots of good beers and live bands to go along with the bugs. The party will be held at Hubcap's 19th Street location in the Heights on Sunday, April 1.

You can make a crawfish weekend out of it by hitting both Hubcap's boil on Sunday and the Easter Seals crawfish boil the day before. On Saturday, March 31, from 2 to 6 p.m., Easter Seals Greater Houston's Young Urban Professionals Organization is hosting an all-you-can-eat crawfish boil at The Firehouse Saloon along with music from Cooper Wade. Tickets are just $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Proceeds will benefit Easter Seals Greater Houston, which provides resources to local residents living with disabilities such as autism, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy.

If you really want to have an all-crawfish weekend, however, head west. Katy Mills Mall is hosting the first-ever Katy Crawfish Festival from Friday, March 30, through Sunday, April 1. In addition to mudbugs aplenty, the festival will also have gumbo, jambalaya, etouffee and fried alligator to eat and carnival rides to test your iron stomachs.

Live music at the Katy Crawfish Festival will be provided all weekend long, featuring country music stars Joe Nichols and Robert Earl Keen along with "Zydecajun" legend Wayne Toups. The festival will kick off on March 30 from 6 to 11:30 p.m., and continue on March 31 from noon to 11:30 p.m. and April 1 from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets are $10; kids under 12 get in for $5. Three-day event passes are also available for $17. A portion of the proceeds will benefit CHRISTUS St. Catherine Hospital and Snowdrop Foundation.
