Greek Week at Niko Niko's Market Square: You Don't Have to Rush
Where I went to college, Greek Week meant something very different. At Niko Niko's in Market Square Park, Greek Week is a week-long event that culminates in a celebration of 180 years of Greek independence on Sunday, March 25.
Photo by Troy Fields Niko Niko's has one of the best views of the skyline in the whole city.
In partnership with Market Square Park, the restaurant will be hosting a different event every day this week leading up to a huge Greek Independence Day brunch on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tonight at 6 p.m., join the restaurant for $2 Mythos beers and a talk on the history of Greek mythology. The rest of the week's schedule is below, and many of the events are free:
Tuesday: Free Greek pastry and coffee tasting, 4 to 6 p.m.
Thursday: Backgammon lessons, 6 to 8 p.m.
Friday: Screening of 300 ("This is Sparta!") sponsored by the Alamo Drafthouse, 8 p.m.
Saturday: Wine tasting, Greek music and dancing (the wine will really help with this last part if you feel inclined to join in), 2 to 6 p.m.
Sunday: Greek Independence Day brunch, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
