Like Masson's, Jody Stevens's cupcakes generally have to be ordered ahead of time through her company, Jodycakes. You can also get them every Wednesday at the weekly wine-and-cupcake pairings that take place at 13 Celsius. And if you're vegan or gluten-free, Jodycakes is the best baker in town to suit your dietary needs.

3. Sugarbaby's Cupcake Boutique

I only need two reasons to love Sugarbaby's: No. 1, Spicy Mexican Hot Chocolate cupcakes infused with ancho chile, cayenne and cinnamon and topped with Mexican vanilla cinnamon cream cheese frosting. No. 2, Saint Arnold Stout Chocolate infused Winter Stout and topped with whipped chocolate ganache. Done and done.

We've had a bunch of these cupcakes. But we live on the north side. I will have to side with Bella Cibo....we think they are under evaluated. Hope to get some more soon.!!

do yourselves a biiiig favor and head on over to "World Catering", WC flys under the radar but those in the know need no introduction to Francis' baked treats; when a well known/respected restaurateur (btw whose own "tres leches" is a gold standard) hands you the heavy lifting for their daughter's wedding cake, that sez it all.

Celebrity needs to be on this list. Their key-lime is to. die. for. Vanilla lime cake, lime buttercream and sprinkles of graham crackers. YUM. And their vanilla is really different from most others... almost milky and less sweet with a corn-bread consistency. Really yummy and different.

Frosted Betty is my favorite, though. Nicole made my wedding cake which was divine, plus an array of mini cupcakes and cookies. OH MAN HER COOKIES.

I have to be out around reliant center tomorrow and need to pick up some cupcakes for a friends birthday tomorrow night. I am not really familiar with the area...are any of these shops around that area? I've tried Sugarbabies, MMM cupcake & Crave before....out of the 3 I like Sugarbabies the best. Thanks for the help!

No cupcakes close to Reliant... your best bet is nearby Rice Village where you can get Crave or Celebrity Cupcakes.

With all due respect...really beg to differ with much of this list. Crave is un-doubtedly #1 but....IMO Sugarbabys and Frosted Betty are consistantly too dry. Dessert Gallery is Meh compared to all the local sweeties slingin it in town. 1)Celebrity Cupcakes are dee-lish, 2)ANYONE who lives in N Side of town will tell you that RJ Goodies on Stuebner Airline makes insane cupcakes and 3) there is a new place in Sugar Land (gasp) of all places called All About Cakes that has been open 2 weeks and will be vying for cupcake supremacy in town soon (and they are $3bucks). Their Key Lime cupcake tastes like a slice of pie. It is slap your Mama good. EOW step your cupcake game up!

Have been to All About Cakes and had that key lime cupcake. They don't pull punches with the flavor. Makes you pucker. Yummers!

Agreed. The buttercream alone makes What's Up's better than the five on this list I've tried.

Dessert Gallery? I've tried them at both locations, months apart...and they are ALWAYS dry and tasteless. One was so old the icing had gone rancid.

I'm not a big cake fan, but someone brought Crave to the office a few months ago and I had the dulce de leche cupcake. Which may very well be the single best thing I have ever eaten. Words cannot describe....

I seem to post a complaint about these lists every week, which I suppose means they're working as conversation starters. I generally find both Sugarbaby's and Dessert Gallery's frosting to be too sweet. While I am ok with knowing that eating this crap is bad for me, I don't want to feel my teeth rotting with each bite.

One of my favorites is Celebrity Cupcakes in Rice Village. They always have a good mix of flavors, and the cupcakes have excellent texture and flavor. Also, the mini cupcakes at Petite Sweets are excellent.
