Not for the faint of heart. Literally.
The national media was inflamed yesterday with the news that a male patron of the Las Vegas eatery known as The Heart Attack Grill fell stricken with the condition that is the establishment's namesake, otherwise known as myocardial infarction.

A heart attack.

A guy, eating at a place so named, suffered from a heart attack. This is the same place that will feed anyone over 350 pounds for free. The original guy who was the face of the restaurant's ad campaign died at the age of 29. What the hell do you think he died from? The flu. When you are that unhealthy, it's a thing like the flu that kills you. What a tragedy.

Eating food like this will take years off your life. It's a proven, rock-solid fact. So forgive me if I seem crass and cool, but I have no sympathy.

I'm not reveling in this poor man's ill health. On the contrary. I would not wish this fate upon anyone, be they friend or foe.

So, what to do? Do we put labels on food like we do on booze and smokes? Do we legislate how many slices of cheese one can legally put onto a cheeseburger?

How about personal choice, personal responsibility? It's the year 2012. Science, technology and modern medicine have caught up with most of the irresponsible acts we can engage in, but you literally are what you eat. If you eat shit, you are going to have a heart attack.

Food is so much more than something to enjoy. It is something to monitor and control for the most ultimate purpose there is: your life and your health.

You might be thinking: "This guy is an idiot. Eat what you want. Live for the now. Dance like no one's looking. The road goes on forever," etc.

Get real.

It's hard to figure how in this day and age, there are still people out there who don't understand basic nutrition.

If you are reading this, you have internet access. Therefore, you have access to the collective knowledge of all mankind. You should know better than to eat at a place called The Heart Attack Grill.

Although, I bet that guy found the place on Yelp. The irony is killing me.

Lol.  You just wrote an article last week about bringing a fast food cheeseburger chain here.

Waffle much?

Thank goodness I had a salad for lunch, so that I too can feel mentally and physically superior.

Eating at the Heart Attack Grill may be somethink like a once in a lifetime, or a once a year experience.  If you are eating there on a more regular basis, you need to know what you are puttting into your body is going to catch up with you.

Correct! Flu pandemics have racked up some pretty amazing body counts over the years.

In my case, probably not even that often. That burger just looks gross.
