Robb Walsh: If you were wondering what the kerfuffle over Dublin Dr Pepper was all about last week, Robb Walsh has a simple and concise explanation for the uproar: "Why the corporate headquarters of Dr Pepper/Snapple found it necessary to close down the oldest Dr Pepper bottler in Texas and a living museum of their own history is baffling to anyone who respects our food culture."

Chili Bob's Houston Eats: Exciting news from Bruce in southwest Houston, where a second outpost of Pyburn's Food Market has opened. We love Pyburn's for its delicious boudin and dirty rice -- both of which are made in-house -- but it's also a popular grocery store for local Almeda residents. The new store, Bruce reports, takes that grocery concept and expands on it. There's also an in-store deli that's scheduled to open in a few short weeks.

Almost Veggie Houston: The blog posts on the finally-open Triniti keep rolling in (stay tuned for our own later this afternoon). The latest from Ashli-Michelle has plenty of pretty photos of the space and the food along with tidbits about the decor, bathrooms, chefs' resumes and even the hostesses' eyeliner. Oh, and a warning about Triniti's tendency to auto-grat large tables. Watch out, folks -- it's a 20 percent auto-grat at that.

Confessions from a Gluttonous Chinaman: Daniel took the time to visit the newest location of "breastaurant" off Kirby and Highway 59 and report back. On the plus side: Every booth has its own TV, the food is decent. On the negative side: Its customers tend to park like jackasses.

The Woodlands Eats: A new location of Rico's Mexican Grill opened recently in Willis, and the TWE bloggers were excited, calling it a "welcome change of pace from many of the area's Tex-Mex and Mexican restaurants." Although the chicken enchiladas were a let-down, the rest of the food and Rico's warm service won them over, stating: "[Y]ou're probably not going to find any better food, service or hospitality than what they're serving up at Rico's Grill in Willis."

Tasty Bits: Finally, Misha recounts his top 10 meals of 2011 -- and they're far from limited to Houston, although he does single out the now-closed Bootsie's, a Belgian beer dinner from Justin Yu and Justin Vann as well as Yu and Vann's now-defunct Money Cat brunches.
