1. Kosher Revolution

Aside from being a generally lovely cookbook with stunning photography, Kosher Revolution is a must for serious kosher cooks who aren't opposed to experimenting with new ingredients, cuisines and flavor combinations. I love Geila Hocherman and Arthur Boehm's suggestions for exploring naturally low-dairy or vegetarian cuisines such as Indian or Chinese food (the latter of which we already know is popular with Jews on Christmas). There's also a helpful reference guide for subbing out ingredients, especially useful in areas like pareve baking.

I thought all Jewish food had to be boiled.  Am I missing something? I'm pretty sure I see grilled figs next to the prosciutto on the cover of that cookbook.

No all Jewish food does not have to be boiled.

Are you thinking of the requirement that wine needs to be heated/boiled to make it kosher?  You can also make certain utensils kosher again via boiling or a blowtorch.  (I have a friend that keeps a kosher kitchen.)  The liver and other blood-rich organs need to be cooked over open flame to comply with the requirement to remove as much of the blood as possible, so there is precedent for grilled items.

I'm as Goyem as they come (Irish Catholic/Episcopal/agnostic) and I want that latke t-shirt.  YOU CANNOT RESIST THE LATKES.
