Katharine Shilcutt wrote a long review of Tan Tan and blogged about needing to get the bad taste out of her mouth. And commenter Mike Calimbas wrote in to agree with her: 
I've always loved Tan Tan on Bellaire so I tried the one on Westheimer and boy was I disappointed. The service was slow and the food was horrific. I didn't even know an Asian restaurant could make standard dishes inedible but they did. Truly left a bad taste in my mouth and I'm the type that gives places the benefit of the doubt usually. After not one, but two horrible experiences there, I won't be going back either.
