A Long Time Coming: Reviewing Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen
For the amount of [well-deserved] press that Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen gets on our blog, you'd think that the longtime Houston restaurant would have been reviewed in print ages ago. At least, that's what I thought.

Even though I've been reading the Houston Press since I was in my early teens, I still can't remember every review that our paper has done over the years. So it was to my great surprise that I learned we'd never reviewed Sylvia's. This is a restaurant that -- as with the Press -- I've been patronizing since my high school years. How could it have never had a review?
I set about rectifying that immediately, and it turned out to be a well-timed discovery: Sylvia Casares opened her second Houston location off Woodway just about a year ago. That new location is the subject of this week's cafe review.
This isn't the first time I've been surprised to find that an old favorite restaurant has never been reviewed, however. It happened when I first started, with Harry's, which -- while admittedly not the best restaurant in town -- has been serving excellent breakfasts to Houston residents since the 1940s. Or Monterrey expat destination restaurant Tacos del Julio on Long Point.
Bonus points if you can pronounce the "Refugio enchiladas" correctly.
So it stands to reason that some others of our readers' favorites have been long-neglected too. Is there a restaurant in Houston that you can't believe has never had a review? One that you've been waiting to see for years? If so, let us know in the comments section.
