Starbucks: Now Serving Starbucks Coffee

Starbucks Sign 004.jpg
Maybe not the best placement for that white sign.
...just in case you were wondering.

The Midtown Starbucks at Smith and West Gray seems exceedingly proud of this fact, writing it in huge letters on a white sign hung from the store's fence, leading us to wonder: What did it serve before it served Starbucks coffee?

A call to the store cleared that up. "If you look really closely at the bottom of the sign, it says 'for $1.50,'" said the young woman who answered the phone. She laughed immediately when I asked about the sign; apparently it's been a conversation point there for a few days.

"When I first saw the sign, I thought it was a little weird," she admitted. "But that's because the bottom part is hidden."

So take heart, folks. Starbucks still is (and always has been) serving Starbucks coffee...for $1.50. But don't miss the fine print, which is even more hidden: It's $1.50 for a small ("tall") cup of coffee.
