Easter is fast approaching and for the good people of the world, that means a focus on traditional activities like spending time with the family and attending church. For heathens like me, it means a new excuse for eating and drinking.

While out running errands, I found myself picking up a bottle of my new favorite bubbly, Domaine Chandon Etoile Rose Sparkling Wine ($30) from Araya.

With these precious items in tow, I went home and, showing a total lack of self-control, consumed the majority of each within an hour.

While normally I would pair my chocolate with a fuller-bodied red wine; the creamier light chocolate of this Easter icon made it a perfect match for the refreshingly airy Etoile. The wine was crisp, slightly fruity, and on the acidic side, making it a perfect accompaniment to almost any food, but especially a sweeter offering.

The pièce de résistance was the pastel-pink hue of the wine, endearing itself to me as the best possible wine to enjoy this holiday.

I wonder how candied bacon would fit into that mix??? Maybe some of Neuske's bacon with that chocolate bunny and Etoile.
