Houston Culinary Tours Gain National Recognition
You have to admit, the Houston Culinary Tours are a clever idea to promote Houston: pairing high-profile chefs with a handful of passionate food lovers, and allowing those chefs to take those food lovers to some of the city's best and most interesting restaurants, showcasing the city's diverse food scene and its brightest food minds all in one fell swoop.
Chris Shepherd and Bryan Caswell on the inaugural Houston Culinary Tour.
And we aren't the only ones who thought the tours were a clever idea. The tours and the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau just won three 2011 Bulldog Reporter Awards for Excellence in Media and Public Relations for their series of food-centric city tours.
As if that weren't honor enough, the tours have also been named finalists in two categories for the Public Relations Society of America's Silver Anvil Awards: Reputation/Brand Management and Marketing Consumer Services.
And while it's certainly nice for the GHCVB to be recognized for its efforts and creativity, it's not as if the tours needed the extra oomph behind them: Each tour offered has sold out in less than five minutes. You know what this means, of course...
