Vic & Anthony's is continuing its popular series of beer dinners by partnering with Texas' own Real Ale for its next evening, which takes place on Friday, April 8 starting at 7 p.m. For $85 a person (tax and tip not included), Chef Carlos Rodriguez will prepare a six-course meal that will pair with six of the brewery's most popular beers, including the hard-to-come-by cask-conditioned ESB. Dessert will feature one of pastry chef Rebecca Masson's creations and the entire evening will feature Real Ale's president Brad Farbstein as the guest of honor. Call 713-228-1111 for reservations.

The next weekend, Chef Pedro Angel Garcia of El Meson Restaurant is headed south, where he'll be the guest chef at the Spanish Wine Pairing Dinner on Friday, April 15, at the Hotel Galvez, all part of the annual Galveston Island Food And Wine Festival which takes place all weekend long.
Dinner will begin with a Cava wine reception featuring sparkling wine from northern Spain. Chef Garcia will prepare eight tasting courses of traditional and contemporary Spanish fare paired with five imported Spanish red, white and sparkling wines. The chef will also introduce each course and end the meal with a question-and-answer session. Priced at $100 a person (including tax and tip), the evening will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Reservations can be made online or by calling 409-765-7721.
Revival Market will officially open at 7 a.m. on Monday morning (March 21), with an assortment of local produce, meats, eggs, coffees, breads, milks, cheeses, honeys, olive oils, cornmeals...well, you name it, and the Market has it. Virtually the only thing that doesn't come from Texas is the pasta the market has on hand until a Texas pasta company comes along.
And among those local products are cookies, cakes, cupcakes and more from Rebecca Masson and her company, Fluff Bake Bar. It's the first storefront operation to stock her goodies - although you can also find her touches on many of the restaurant dessert menus she's helped design around town - so you can pick up a stash of her famous homemade fluffernutters or moon pies on your way home.
But if you want an entire evening of the pastry chef's sweets, pick up a ticket for the Sweet & Savory seven-course tasting dinner that Masson is hosting on April 10 at 4 p.m. at the Ralph Smith Photography Studio (5226 Elm Street). Featuring chefs such as Revival Market's own Ryan Pera, Seth Siegel-Gardner from Kata Robata and Matt Marcus of the Eatsie Boys, the dinner costs $75 a person - and all proceeds go to benefit Lucky Dog Rescue. Last but not least, take a load off after work at The Counter, where the burger bar has just launched a new happy hour. Weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m., the restaurant will offer $2 mini cheeseburgers, 50 percent off its starters and $2 off draft beer and wine. What, no discounts on the peanut butter milkshakes? Eh, it's probably for the best.
