This Week in Deliciousness

"What are they filled with? Uh, mostly cream cheese. AND DESPAIR."
Welcome back to the weekly roundup here at Eating Our Words, where we're celebrating Houston's early spring weather by - and we apologize for the following imagery - oozing sunburn juice all over our shirt collars. Yes, Monday was definitely not a day to be outside without sunscreen, and we're now blessed with a neck and shoulders that look like overdone turkey jerky. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the entire goddamn city FROZEN EFFING SOLID two weeks ago? It's not just me, right?

I guess that's why we started the week off with some drinking.

All the rodeo food has been weighed and judged, so if you want to find out who has the best fried Moon Pie, I assume that's here. We're also still trying to find something good in the tunnels, but sadly, it ain't the pho. And forget Christmas: even if you missed National Have a Margarita Day, that's definitely the holiday you can celebrate all year 'round. That, and Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Is all hospital food bad? Well, no, but it's not really what you'd call "good," either. It seems to fall anywhere between "tolerable" and "wretched," kinda like mall food. And don't even get us started on these cupcakes we bought from this sparkly guy who hangs out in the woods all day. Seriously, you've been a vampire for like 300 years. Invest in a house.

There are a lot of problems plaguing this fine nation, but we feel like if we just started eating better bread, most of them would work themselves out. And although the concept of food coming at us on a conveyor belt seems like it might be a nice thing, we've simply seen that I Love Lucy episode too many times to be enthusiastic. She dropped so many of those cakes, man. It's still hard to watch.

For an entire year's worth of puns, check out our
Academy Awards / Bombay Pizza mashup. Natachee's is starting to live up to its potential, which is good news for us Island Dogs. (We hang out at the Island on Main a lot, so we're trying to make "Island Dogs" happen.) For those of you working in or around the Galleria, though, there's some good stuff for y'all, too.

Finally, we're closing out the week with some old favorites, a cool new partnership, and some kinda-crappy matzoh ball soup. Aww, we don't want to end on a sour note... here, enjoy some cherries. And get the hell outside, the weather today is gorgeous.
