Sampler Plate: This Week in Food Blogs
Each week, we put together a sampler plate of the most interesting links from both local and national food blogs. Know a blog we should be paying particular attention to? Leave the address in the comments section below.
The Mighty Rib: As we mentioned on Monday, the Food Network visited three Houston restaurants last week: Beaver's, Zelko Bistro and the Little Bitty Burger Barn. Our own Kevin Shalin has an interview with host Rahm Fama on why the show chose Little Bitty Burger Barn and what Fama was trying out there.
H-Town Chow Down: As promised many moons ago, Carl's Jr. is finally coming back to Houston, and Albert -- being the burger blogger he is -- has all the pertinent details, like when the chain is handing out FREE FOOD.
Chili Bob's Houston Eats: It just wouldn't be January without plenty of Best Of lists floating around the Internet. But Bruce's list of best street food and best new finds from 2010 is one of my favorites so far and well worth your time.
Hungry in Houston: And speaking of Best Of lists, Hungry in Houston has compiled their own top picks from 2010, including categories for items like Biggest Letdown and Best Breakfast Taco.
The Stranger: Finally, from the alt-weekly in Seattle that's not our sister paper, Seattle Weekly, comes one of the funniest food rants I've read in a long time. I had no idea that soup dumplings -- or xiao long bao -- were so venerated in Seattle that people will wait two hours for them while loudly berating anyone who doesn't share their soup dumpling frenzy.
