Bargains are never a bad thing. From the clearance rack at Dillard's, to the random deals on Groupon, to the occasional Antiques Roadshow-like find at a neighborhood estate sale, uncovering something of great value on accident is like winning a mini-lottery. It's these everyday victories that keep me on a constant alert for the next great deal, and this week's happened to come in the form of a 750 ml bottle.

A general blend of California varietals, this simple, but tasty, red wine doesn't pretend to be something it's not. Called the "kitchen sink" for a reason, it's made of Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, and there's no mistaking a hint of each varietal inside. The smoothness comes from the Merlot, the deep, inky color and splash of fruit flavors from the Zinfandel, and the depth from the Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah.

It's like a dark chocolate bar in a glass. With flavors of blackberry, chocolate and oak, this deeply satisfying red can be had for a ridiculously low price (around $8). The whole bottle was gone in no time.

Essentially made from a bunch of leftovers, Kitchen Sink's red table wine is a reminder that sometimes the most humble of "scraps," thrown together in a thoughtful manner, can add up to more than the sum of their parts.
