Odd Pair: Frozen Burritos & Chilean Rose

Frozen burritos - the prefect food to eat when you're too lazy to drive to Taco Bell. Next time you're in that same predicament, make yourself feel better by opening a bottle of Calcu's 2009 Rose from Chile. It retails for about $12 a bottle, which is about 50 times the cost of that beef/ bean/ and green chile burrito that is getting all toasty in the microwave.

But amazingly, this bright pink wine somehow elevates the meal to a passable state. Rose tends to pair well with most spicy foods, and this one is no different. I slathered on some sour cream to class up the burrito, and the creaminess was a nice contrast with the crisp wine. Plus, the fruitiness of the rose toned down the burn from the tablespoons of hot sauce and extra green chiles I added to my entrée. All in all, it was a mediocre dinner experience, which was more than I could say for the burrito without the help of the Calcu.
