Dinner and Dancing at Andalucia

Andalucia Tapas and Taverna is now serving up a side of singing, Spanish guitar, and Flamenco dancing along with its delicious tapas and paella every Friday night. I stopped by last weekend to watch Solero Flamenco put on a passionate performance by singer Irma "La Paloma" and guitarist Jeremías "El Valiente" García.

There were two dancers taking turns performing for a lively crowd, and each was enchanting in her own unique way. One older patron was so moved by the performance that he joined the dancers on stage and put on his own show, much to the crowd's delight. It's not everyday you get to see to see a septuagenarian Sheik dancing Flamenco.

What made the show even better was that it was accompanied by a smorgasbord of tasty dishes and drinks. I was part of a large group of friends, which is truly the best way to eat tapas, since it allows you to sample little bits of everything. My favorite selections of the night included the garlicky gambas al ajillo, the zesty patatas bravas and the bombas de queso which are small balls of goat cheese drizzled with a spicy honey sauce.

I found the sangria good, if a little overly sweet for me, so I stuck to drinking El Toros, which are a combination of Negro Modelo, tequila and citrus. Tart and potent, they kept me warm and tipsy throughout the show.
