Bartender Chat: Nathan Taylor

I first met Nathan Taylor last summer at the Iron Bartender Competition hosted at the San Luis Resort in Galveston. He was wowing the crowd with flair bartending moves that would've sent Tom Cruise's head spinning. At the time, he was working at Buck's down in Seabrook, so I was quite surprised to run into him on the Northwest side of town at Luxe Nightclub in Vintage Park. "I'm still down in Seabrook," he explains. "I work at Buck's Thursdays and Fridays, and then drive up here Tuesdays and Saturdays. It's 100 miles roundtrip." Wow! That is dedication to one's craft.

Taylor's been bartending "a little while," he laughs, "probably around 15 years." He has won many flair bartending competitions throughout the years. But that's not his only talent. Nathan is one of the friendliest bartenders you will ever meet. There is not an ounce of pretense around him. He likes drinking Jager and is happy to make you a Long Island Iced Tea. He enjoys working in Seabrook and Tomball because, he says, everybody's friendly. If you find yourself needing a drink outside of the loop one day, head over to Buck's or and get Nathan to shake up a tasty shot. Maybe you'll even be lucky enough to get a show out of him, too.
