Shubhra Ramineni was born in India and moved here as a small child. In Houston, her mother made Indian food with local ingredients. Shubhra went on to college and graduate school and is now a busy young professional and new mom. But she still wanted to cook uncomplicated Indian food in her home.

That's how Shubhra's easy Indian cookbook, Entice with Spice, came about. The recipes are made with ingredients you can find at the supermarket, and the techniques include same wonderful shortcuts. Shubhra stopped by my house the other day and showed me how to make garum masala with a coffee grinder and cocktail samosas with flour tortillas.

Go meet Shubhra at her book signing this Friday at Williams-Sonoma's Highland Village store from 6 to 8 p.m. She will be demonstrating the flour tortilla samosa recipe along with recipes for mint chutney and mango lassi. She'll also be passing around samples, so come hungry.
