Feeding Curiosity: The main reason for following Chef Randy Rucker's blog? Announcements like these: An intriguing evening with the culinary teams at Chez Roux, Just 8 and Connate (Rucker's new restaurant concept) on September 12, the detail of which will be revealed soon.

Chili Bob's Houston Eats: Wondering why there aren't more Puerto Rican restaurants in town? I've heard a very different response in the past from Carlos Perez, owner of Tex-Chick on Fairview, but Bruce quizzes the folks at the Puerto Rican food truck El Mofongo Boricua and comes up with an interesting answer.

The Wynk: We all have our own little food quirks and idiosyncrasies. I can't stand honeycomb because it looks too much like pores, for example. Melissa lays out her incredibly complex list of quirks surrounding one single food item -- eggs -- and the result is hilarious and relatable.

H-Town Chow Down: The title of the post says it all: There are alternatives to the Landry's empire in Kemah, and Albert presents The Burger House as one such option.

Appetite: Aside from being one of the nation's foremost food photographers, almost-local Penny De Los Santos is a mean cook, too. Check out her recipe for tomato-peach-basil salad, a "best of the summer"-style concoction you can easily recreate at home.

Houston Food Adventures: Last week's post on the "foodie backlash" inspired a lot of ugliness and negativity, but it also inspired some positive reactions. In one case, it even inspired the creation of another local blog, this one by Phaedra Cook. Check out her first post: In Defense of Foodies.
