Brew Blog: Deschutes Brewery
Many excellent West Coast and Pacific Northwest brewers have long shown the good sense to ship their wares to Texas, and Deschutes Brewery has now joined the party in a real way, too.
The Bend, Oregon brewery has inked a deal with Ben E. Keith Beverages to expand its local reach.
Of course, a worker in the Spec's beer department said they've been carrying the brewery's offerings for a about a year now, but this expansion gives local vendors more access to a wider range of Deschutes brews, particular if reserve products are approved by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
The sixth-largest craft brew makers in the country, Deschutes makes Black Butte Porter, Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Inversion IPA, Obsidian Stout, Cascade Ale and Bachelor ESB, in addition to its seasonal offerings.
"We initially launched our beers in select Texas markets two years ago, and had a great response," brewery president and founder Gary Fish, said in a release.
Deschutes will now be available in College Station, Denton, El Paso and Corpus Christi for the first time. The brewery was founded 22 years ago and made its name with its Black Butte Porter, according to the release.
This is now the second time we've mentioned Ben E. Keith Beverages in this space (here's the first.) We'll probably get shouted at again, and we understand that selling Anheuser-Busch products for 77 years warrants that response.
Just as long as they bring the good stuff, too.
