Black Sesame Gelato At Gelato Cup

Categories: On the Menu

Taking a break from exploring Chinatown and its million restaurants, we popped into Gelato Cup Italian Ice Cream (9889 Bellaire Boulevard, 713-271-1082) to try their durian gelato that I heard smells like rotting fruit. We sampled it and decided one spoonful was enough. We would not want to eat a bowl of this.

We settled on the lychee and black sesame. While the lychee was refreshing but too fragrant for us, the black sesame was awesome: very nutty and creamy, almost like peanut butter. Other flavors like green tea and mango looked amazing as well. We will have to come back to try some of the more exotic flavors.

Next time we're in Chinatown we'll stop in and have some guava and passionfruit gelato in a waffle cone with green tea jelly.
