Sampler Plate: This Week In Food Blogs
Each week, we put together a sampler plate of the most interesting links from both local and national food blogs. Know a blog we should be paying particular attention to? Leave the address in the comments section below.
Cook's Tour: After many years of being a holdout despite her long-term Texas citizenship, Vermont native and Houston Chronicle food critic Alison Cook finally tried the breakfast fare at Waffle House. Priceless.
Chili Bob's Houston Eats: Just because it isn't November doesn't mean you can't enjoy some excellent turkey, especially when its served Guatemalan-style in kaq-ik, a type of soup. We like Chili Bob's style of dipping the tamales in the rich broth.
29-95: As our own Ruthie Johnson mentioned last week, it's truffle season at Tony's. Chris Reid has an in-depth look (albeit not as in-depth as his famous three-parter on authentic carbonara) at the truffle procurement process and what it takes to get these little gems to Houston.
H-Town Chow Down: Although it isn't affiliated with the beloved Jax Grill, Jax Burgers is the newest burger joint in The Woodlands. Which means -- of course -- that Albert was there to check it out, posthaste. Read his review for yourself (now with video!) to see if the drive is worth it.
Houston Wok: In his most recent blog post, David deviates from his typical Asian-inspired recipes to feature something a bit closer to home: Sausage with a side of Mexican-style corn. We have to admit, it looks delicious.
