What The Firk? Houston's Firkin Fest Is This Weekend
The relevant point is that a firkin is another name for a cask of ale. As in beer. Often, unusually excellent beer.
So it is with great pleasure that we remind you about Houston's first Firkin Fest:
Tonight at 5 p.m., Anvil Bar & Refuge (1424 Westheimer), will feature casks of Real Ale's 2008 Barrel-Aged Sisyphus Barley Wine, Great Divide's Espresso Oak-Aged Yeti, and one surprise.
Tomorrow, also at 5 p.m., The Flying Saucer (705 Main), will tap casks of Avery's Maharaja, Left Hand's Twin Sisters, a cask from Southern Star, and one surprise.
Saturday at 4 p.m., Petrol Station (985 Wakefield) will have on hand Moylan's Dry Hop Hopsickle, Stone's Sublimely Self Righteous Dry Hop and Double Dry Hop Ruination, St. Rose's Dry Hop Red Ale, and Independence's Stash IPA.
Rejoice, beer nerds.
