Sampler Plate: This Week In Food Blogs

Categories: Leftovers

Each week, we put together a sampler plate of the most interesting links from both local and national food blogs. Know a blog we should be paying particular attention to? Leave the address in the comments section below.

Fork and Cork: Today is the last day to grab a meal at Magnolia Bar & Grill, the beloved Cajun restaurant run by Jim Gossen of Louisiana Seafood. The restaurant lost its lease, but Gossen hopes to hit Houston with a new concept sooner rather than later. In the meantime, Syd Kearney directs us to a great new place in Webster -- Mackey's Bar & Grill -- that might help fill that seafood void.

Dude, You Going To Eat That? Dr. Ricky has discovered a truly American bastardization of the delicate French macaron, in Chinatown of all places. Behold the chocolate-covered macaron at Patisserie Jungle Cafe!

Homesick Texan: Lisa made a brief trip back to Houston from her perch in New York City and gave us a gorgeous photo tour of some of the down-home meals she indulged in while she was back home. Bonus: She ate dinner at Robb Walsh's house and has a review of his grilled stuffed peppers, one of the recipes from Walsh's latest cookbook.

Robb Walsh: Speaking of the man himself, Walsh has a short history of that favorite Southern dish -- shrimp and grits -- along with a trusty recipe you can make yourself at home, instead of dishing out mad moolah at Ouisie's Table.
