Talking to Jamie Zelko of Zelko Bistro is a humbling experience. Not only has she been voted one of Houston's hottest chefs, she is, more importantly, one of this city's most talented.
Formerly executive chef of Bistro Lancaster, Zelko started her own place in the Heights just this year, and her brand of comfort food has been winning her plenty of press - and fans. We asked her how she felt about having her hotness recognized, and she said cheekily, "Great. There is nothing more attractive than knowing your place in life."
In truth, this shy chef feels humble about her success so far and says, "Everything is from the heart." Jamie Zelko has won lots of awards, including My Table's Up and Coming Chef of the Year award and the Rising Star award from Restaurant Hospitality.
As for the Hot Chef honor? "They are already trying to make me a plaque for this one," she laughs.
